A Painters Progress - New Walk Museum and Art Gallery

10 July - 26 September

New Walk Museum & Art Gallery
53 New Walk, Leicester LE1 7EA

A Painter’s Progress is an exhibition at two venues in Leicester. Jenny Grevatte has used her residency at New Walk Museum and Art Gallery to experiment and explore, testingand stretching her ideas and approach whilst using works by artists as diverse as Harold Gilman, Evelyn Williams, Käthe Kollwitz and Peter Doig.  Her new paintings enable us to share the uncertainties, pleasures and exitement of a richly textured artistic journey.

Also on show are the four paintings that inspired Jenny Grevatte in the collection of New Walk Museum & Art Gallery: Peter Doig Concrete Cabin, Käthe Kollwitz The Prisoners, Evelyn Williams A Woman’s Life and Harold Gilman Meditation,

JENNY GREVATTE
A Painters Progress - Embrace Arts

10 July - 26 September

Embrace Arts at the RA Centre
Lancaster Road, Leicester LE1 7HA

In a second contemporanuous exhibition in Leicester, by Jenny Grevatte, this retrospective of her work spans 35 years, showing how an artist’s work develops and changes.  There is also a film commissioned specially for the exhibition by Jenny Grevatte’s filmaker son, Alex Wright which tells the story of her artistic journey, sources of inspiration and glimpses of her studio practice.

Included at Embrace Arts alongside Jenny Grevatte's work are students' shared shared sketchooks for a project completed under Jenny’s guidance as artist tutor, which shows how artists at all levels can share ideas and learn from one another.
