Apollo 11 landed on the moon and I was ‘hooked’. The magical beauty of galaxies nebula and stars caught my imagination.

My paintings attracted the attention of BBC television and BBC radio. Collaboration with the Astronomy Department of the University of Leicester as Artist in Residence resulted in three exhibitions there during the next ten years, and solo shows around the Midlands.

I have always taken ‘side-steps’ and looked at other subject matter. These are my breathing spaces.

‘Not Alone’ was triggered by our ‘Milkyway’ and Henry Moore’s sculpture ‘King & Queen’ of which there are two works – one in the north of England which Moore describes as being very alone. Perhaps Moore’s work will inspire further thoughts.
