Shirley Easton’s recent works are on canvasses that she prepares with a textured surface, using transparent glazes and a limited palette. Shirley Easton bases her paintings on the sketches that she makes on location in Portugal, France and the UK and also draws inspiration from her own garden.

Shirley Easton trained at Leicester College of Art gaining a National Diploma in Design in Fine Art & Printed Textiles in 1957 followed by the Art Teachers Diploma. She married the artist David Easton in 1959. Shirley taught drawing and painting at Leicester College of Adult Education for 36 years from 1961 to 1997 and during this time she exhibited 2 works at the Royal Academy in 1986, exhibited for 20 years in Royal Institute of Painters in Watercolours exhibitions at the Mall Galleries, and was a Member of the Society of Women Artists from 1987 to 1992.  An active member of Leicester Society of Artists, Shirley regularly exhibits in both the annual and themed LSA exhibitions at New Walk Museum & Art Gallery
