President of Leicester Society of Artists, artist and architect Douglas Smith has retired from the role in October 2014.
"It has been an immense pleasure and privilege to have been your President for 27 years," he told members. "Looking back it has been a fascinating journey from a Society with only one exhibition a year, to today with 2 exhibitions, a public lecture, visits to exhibitions and exciting overseas visits too. There was the creation of an impressive website, soon to be even more so, as the Society keeps up with the latest technology. I was shattered 2 years ago when you presented me with the 'Wonderbox'.It has been a privilege to be your President for 27 years and to know that you are all my friends."
