"Glass has a fluidity which gives me creative freedom. In contrast, the metals that form the sculptural element within my work require a more formal approach. I love the difference between these materials. The diverse working methods constantly excite and challenge me to produce innovative work. My work has a simplicity in both form and colour - the soft curves of the glass contrast with the hard cold worked edges, which then refract the colours from the base."
Angie Packer graduated with a First Class BA in Design Crafts as a mature student at De Montfort University in 2017 where she specialised in glass and received a “Highly Commended” award from the Contemporary Glass Society. From 2017-18 she worked as Design Crafts Artist in Residence at De Montfort University. She has exhibited at a number of galleries and shows and now works part-time for a fellow glass artist in Leicester and utilises his facilities to cold-work her glass.
