David Easton has been a self-employed professional artist since 1982 and his work has been shown in group shows by galleries throughout the UK. In 1985 he was elected a Member of the Royal Institute of Painters in Watercolours (RI) and has taken part in many group shows around the UK. He is the author of two books about painting in watercolours: Watercolour Flowers (pub. 1993, Batsford) and Watercolour Inspirations (pub. 1997, Batsford). An enthusiastic user of sketchbooks, David has organised and tutored a number of painting trips for small groups of artists to France and Portugal.

David Easton trained at Leicester College with a NDD Commercial Design at Leicester College in 1956, and after national service in Malaya he returned to the UK and worked as a Graphic Designer.  He married the artist Shirley Easton in 1959. He was elected to LSA membership in 1962. In 1973 he returned to art education, and after completing a B.Ed in 1976 he worked as a teacher in schools and colleges.  In 1987 he was awarded the Winsor & Newton prize for the most outstanding group of works in the RI annual exhibition.  From 1998 to 2005 he was Secretary of Leicester Society of Artists. He is also an active Member of Leicester Sketch Club, where he gives talks about painting and drawing.
