Seashore is a solo exhibition of 30 linocut prints inspired by the East coast by printmaker Sally Hill.
“I won the Derby Print Open Banks Mill Award in 2019”, says Sally, “and the prize included the opportunity to have a solo exhibition at Banks Mill Studios.
"I was brought up by the sea and feel drawn to the vitality of the coast and its wide open spaces, which is the subject of my show. The changing nature of the shoreline allows opportunity for my interest in composition, a sense of place, and the movement of people and animals within it.
The printmaking process stimulates ideas too, and brings a focus to them. I particularly like the energy and directness of linocut marks, and I have aimed to use that quality to reflect the life of a situation in the work on display in Seashore.”
Sally is a member of Leicester Print Workshop and Leicester Society of Artists.
