Watercolour hits the paper and you have some moments to add to it or change it, then it does its own thing. I like to draw with paint, it has a velvety feel, and that usually comes first. The paint from the brush might follow the drawn lines, or I may allow the watercolour to take its own way, so the two elements dance in and out of each other. The paper makes the colours glow, it's such a beautiful colour. The creamy Saunders Waterford is as much a part of the painting as the paint itself.
