Philip Dawson has chosen his favourite haunts in Rutland and beyond for his latest paintings in a solo show inspired by moments and feelings experienced throughout the year.

"Walking in Barnsdale Wood, the Birks of Aberfeldy, the New Forest, or any wood, particularly when bluebells are in flower is one of my greatest pleasures. They are such true heralds of Spring that ‘winter blues’ just melt away. Like ‘Mexican waves’ their drooping heads ripple across the woodland floor. The lime green foliage of the developing tree canopy above provides a perfect complement to  the majestic carpet of blue below stretching off into the distance. When the breeze subsides something magical happens in the company of this delicate plant. Feelings of tranquility become all consuming. In visual terms I pay my own homage to this fragile flower. The rhythms and patterns of Nature never cease to amaze me. My work is inspired directly from her canvas. I love being out there witnessing it all and invite you to share in my excitement."
