The VAO competition is open to both amateur and professional artists, working in one or more of the following media: drawing, printing, painting, photography, digital art and sculpture. The primary goal of the awards, are to reveal and promote unknown artists who are yet to establish their profile in the contemporary art world. The overall winner will receive a platform to showcase their art work, including commercial mentoring package, and solo show at Chester Arts Fair 2019.

• 31 May 2018 - Shortlist of five entries per category posted online for People's Choice Award
• November 2018 - Exhibition of all 25 shortlisted works from the VAO at Chester Arts Fair 2018, winners announced
• November 2019 - Overall Winner Exhibition at Chester Arts Fair 2019
