As an architect John was particularly interested in texture and composition in his drawings and paintings. His long experience of detailed drawing landscape, life studies and buildings, was the background on which his painting style developed. He increasingly looked at abstract elements, but usually with a starting point of representational images. His use of different materials to keep a fresh approach to each subject helped to make the activity of painting and drawing always exciting.
Sadly, John Nixon died in 2021.
