Artists are invited to submit work for exhibition alongside members of the Royal Institute of Painters in Water Colours at their 211th Exhibition at the Mall Galleries, London. The Royal Institute of Painters in Water Colours (RI) seeks the best in contemporary watercolour and watermedia painting.

There are prizes & awards worth over £7,500 worth of prizes and awards to be won.

The exhibition is the largest of its kind in the world, featuring over 400 of the finest contemporary water-based media paintings from around the globe. Since its founding in 1831, the RI has become universally recognised as one of the leading art institutes. 

 

Deadline for Entry - Submissions are online only and open until 12 noon on Friday 3 February 2023.

Exhibition Dates - 30 March - 8 April 2023

Upload images of work  - by Friday 3 February 2023, 12 noon  (see link below).  A single-stage virtual judging of all submitted works will take place, after which selected works should be delivered to Mall Galleries, London, for inclusion in the exhibition:

Notification of selection: Friday 17 February, 12 noon

Receiving Day (if selected): Saturday 18 March, 10am to 5pm

About applying - Any artist over 18 may submit.

Acceptable media: Watercolour or water-soluble mediums including watercolour, acrylic, ink or gouache (excluding water-soluble oils) painted on paper or paper based support. Work painted on canvas or directly on to wood, glass or metal will not be accepted.
Works must have been completed within the last two years and should not have been previously shown in London.

Submission fee: £20 per work (or £14 per work for artists aged 35 or under).
A maximum of six works may be submitted. A maximum of four works may be selected.
