Philip trained as a Graphic Designer at Loughborough College of Art and Design (now LUSAD) in the 1970s leading to a career in publishing designing consumer magazines and newspapers. Self-employment followed, designing product brochures, advertising and marketing for leading national companies. Now he paints for painting’s sake. His style verges on semi-abstract, pushing the colour as far as it will go.
"The rhythms and patterns of Nature never cease to amaze me – my work is inspired directly from her canvas. There is so much visual stimulus to be enjoyed, shared, and cherished that I feel compelled to observe and interpret in paint. I love being out there witnessing it all and invite you to share in my excitement."
Philip Dawson has had four solo exhibitions and appeared in several mixed shows in Leicestershire and Rutland. He regularly exhibits work at the Dotty Gallery in Twyford, Leicestershire and Gallery Stamford in Stamford, Lincolnshire.
